Let's unwind... enjoy one of our weekend breaks at Camber Sands
Camber Sands has always been a popular summer destination, especially with travellers from London and the South East. However, in the last few years we have also seen a growing number of weekend visitors all year round, especially during the winter months. This may be due in part to recent articles published in national magazines and newspapers. The Times described Camber Sands as “Britain’s version of the Hamptons” with its five mile beach and sand dunes.
Weekend breaks at Camber Sands have now become very popular all year round.
Rye...
Undoubtedly the beach and its miles of golden sand is a big attraction, especially to families and dog owners, but the proximity to Rye also appeals to our weekend guests. This little hill top town is one of the most picturesque and most photographed in England with its cobbled streets, timber framed houses and Georgian cottages. Visitors enjoy exploring this enchanting town packed with an eclectic mix of independent shops selling anything and everything from antiques to modern chic, gifts to home ware. If you’re looking for something less ordinary then you may just find it here in Rye. When you need a rest from shopping you’ll also find plenty of wonderful tea rooms, cafes, inns and restaurants in which to while away the time and watch the word go by. Rye is also a delightful place for Christmas shopping!
Dungeness...
If you like the weird and wonderful then a drive out to Dungeness is not to be missed. Dungeness lies about 20 minutes east of Camber. This remote landscape is much loved by artists and film makers. Keen photographers especially will be in their element. While here you can climb to the top of the old lighthouse for some wonderful views and take a ride across the shingle and marshes on the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, the worlds smallest public miniature railway. The Pilot Inn at Dungeness probably has some of the best fish and chips in the country too – well we think so! Of course there are many more Things to Do in our neck of the woods, including many castles, we are right on the edge of 1066 Country after all.
Your home from home...
Naturally, at the end of the day you have your lovely comfortable cottage to return to. Stay in and watch a film, play a game or just relax and chat over dinner, or book a table at one of the many restaurants in Rye just a few minutes drive away and enjoy fine dining at its best or enjoy a pint of ale, a nice glass of wine and a beautiful home-cooked meal at our local, The Owl which also welcomes dogs.
